
Suzy Madigan
Suzy Madigan brings a unique lens to responsible AI shaped by her experience as a frontline humanitarian responder, global policy and peacebuilding specialist, and former advertising executive advising global businesses in agencies like M&C Saatchi.
Named one of the global 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™, she draws on her background in community engagement, risk mitigation, and strategic communications to help organisations in the private, public and non-profit sectors navigate AI’s human challenges and design inclusive, risk-aware AI strategies.
With over 15 years’ experience in programming and policy for the UN, governments and NGOs, Suzy has worked in nearly 20 crisis contexts including Iraq, Haiti, Ukraine, Niger, Colombia and Lebanon. This varied in-country experience with wide-ranging environments and stakeholders informs her approach to ethical AI.
As Responsible AI Lead at CARE International, Suzy led a research partnership with Accenture and co-authored ‘AI and the Global South: Exploring the Role of Civil Society in AI Decision-Making’. The report amplifies voices from civil society, multinational tech companies and government, offering practical guidance on building equitable partnerships between businesses and communities.
Suzy is a regular contributor to podcasts and broadcast media, and has written for leading newspapers. She explores the societal implications of AI in her blog series, ‘The Machine Race’.
