Paul Dongha
As the Head of Responsible AI and AI Strategy at the UK's largest bank, I lead the development and implementation of ethical AI practices and strategies across the Group. Ensuring AI technologies are designed and used in line with regulatory standards and ethical guidelines, mitigating risks related to bias, transparency, and accountability. I collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed AI controls into the bank's risk management framework. I drive innovation to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency while maintaining trust and integrity in AI applications.
Previously as Group Head of Data & AI Ethics, at Lloyds Banking Group I co-chaired the bank’s Data & AI Ethics Board. I created bank-wide governance structures for AI ethics, extending and deepening the bank’s development practices ensuring appropriate guardrails are implemented. Created an AI Ethics tech team, developing cutting-edge solutions integrated with model validation, CTO and risk teams across the bank.
I led Lloyds bank’s generative AI Strategy in 2023 by mobilising a multi-disciplinary team of specialists from across the bank to identify generative AI use cases for scaling and project execution. I am now setting the architectural approach and technical platform tooling for GenAI guardrails.
