Jane Barrett is the Head of AI Strategy at Reuters, working to enhance journalism responsibly with AI. She leads cross-functional teams to design, develop and deploy AI tools in the Reuters newsroom and across products. She works closely with data scientists to explore and develop AI solutions; Product and Engineering to integrate AI into workflow and tools; and Editorial and Legal to ensure journalistic standards and ethics are maintained in an AI world. Previously, Jane was responsible for new business across the 174-year-old news agency, building out audio products, fact-checking and events. She led the multimedia transformation of the newsroom to increase Reuters digital output, was the business editor for EMEA, started up a financial video service and was a reporter in Italy and Spain. Outside Reuters she is a trustee of Podium.me, a charity that gets young people into journalism and storytelling through podcasts, and sits on the World Editors Forum and AI Advisory board at WAN-IFRA.
