James is the lead on Responsible Data and AI for the BBC, ensuring that the BBC's use of data and AI/ML align with our values and legal and regulatory obligations. He is responsible for governance of internal development, procurement, and editorial use of AI/ML through our Machine Learning Engine Principles and checklist; and for turning principles into practice by providing teams with tools and support, and building capacity and culture throughout the BBC.
Previously James has worked in the BBC's conversational AI team, with responsibility for ethics and editorial standards in conversational AI.
