Davar Ardalan
Davar Ardalan is an award-winning media executive, AI strategist, and artist whose career spans National Geographic, NPR, the White House Presidential Innovation Fellowship program, and Booz Allen. Ardalan has led research in large language models and AI risk mitigation as well as digital transformation across civil and commercial sectors. In 2025, she was a finalist in two categories of the Booz Allen Gen AI Academy Awards for her work in AI and storytelling.
Previously, Ardalan served as Head of Weekend Programming at NPR, overseeing national news shows, and later as Executive Producer of Audio at National Geographic, where she led acclaimed, award-winning podcasts. She is the co-author of AI for Community: Preserving Culture and Tradition (Taylor & Francis, 2025), specializing in cultural heritage research, AI, and the public good. Throughout her career, she has led international teams at her startups TulipAI and IVOW AI, orchestrated global broadcasts, and mentored generations of journalists, reflecting her commitment to collaborative, culturally rich storytelling.
As an artist and member of the Annapolis Arts Alliance, Ardalan explores technology’s cultural impact through her AI Currents and Code 1776 series, handcrafted acrylic, collage, and mixed media works exhibited at Gallery 57. She uses stencils to echo AI’s pattern learning, emphasizing that what is absent can be as meaningful as what is present. She also developed a prototype AI assistant to automate procedural documents for volunteers and built a knowledge base to streamline storytelling about artists and authors.
Ardalan’s work has been featured in The New York Times and recognized with multiple Webbys, an Ambie, Signal Awards, a NASA team leadership award, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. She even appeared in pop culture as a character in Zippy the Pinhead.
Her latest book, AI for Community will launch on June 16. She will be signing books at the London AI Summit at the Taylor & Francis bookstand from 4:30-6pm: AI for Community.
