Tim is a cryptography SME with 9 years of experience across academia and industry.  He holds a PhD in cryptography from the University of Bristol (UK) where his focus was on privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs).  He spent 18 months working in this area with the research group at KU Leuven (Belgium).  He then spent four years in the Defence sector analysing risk in high-assurance environments, helping to develop and improve technical standards, and providing expert consultant advice on the use of cryptography.  He joined Digital Catapult in 2023 where he provides guidance on the application of PETs and cryptography in a range of cutting-edge projects.
