Katherine Yesilirmak is the Deputy Director of Strategy and Projects in the Responsible Tech Adoption Unit within the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Since joining government Katherine has worked in a number of strategy roles including Bill Management and Private Office. She joined DSIT to lead on cross-departmental digital regulation strategy. She was then asked to set up The Foundation Model Taskforce, the precursor to the AI Safety Institute (AISI). In her most recent role, she led international efforts to develop standards and protocols on behalf of AISI. Katherine is passionate about the potential of technology adoption and the need for safe and trustworthy AI.
